Job Description:Essential Job Functions1.Maintains and improves high availability and disaster recovery strategies for the database environments, including backup, restore, replication and fail-over methods where appropriate2.Plans, installs, configures and upgrades hardware and software related to the RDBMS environment with moderate assistance 3.Has general understanding of Performance Monitor and SQL Profiler and is also able to use these tools to detect performance bottlenecks4.Should have sound knowledge of system tables and should be able to detect performance problems with moderate assistance5.Assists in the design, development and maintenance of database environments, including but not limited to management, configuration, optimization, security, replication, maintenance and support with moderate assistance6.Demonstrates the ability to contribute to the successful design, development, implementation, change management and production support of mission critical database applications through code review and working with development teams. 7.Assists the development staff with best practices, including but not limited to, code optimization techniques 8.Assists in determining appropriate RAID configurations 9.Should have a mid-level knowledge of T-SQL and should be able to leverage this knowledge to write intermediate scripts for the gathering of database information10.Understand and assist, when required, in administration of Microsoft operating systems.11.Evaluate third party applications12.On-Call rotation
