Kaiser Permanente is proud to offer the KP Kids at Work summer intern program. This prestigious program has provided entry-level experience to many students over the years, some of which have gone on to graduate from college and become regular KP employees!
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS. To participate in the KP Kids at Work Program, you must:
Be at least 17 years of age by June 1, 2008. No exceptions.
Be the son or daughter of a KP employee or the KP employee is your legal guardian.
Be a continuing student and currently enrolled in school.
Have a Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (B-average or better) or 4.0 (B-average or better) on a 5.0 scale as of the Fall 2007 semester (verified by providing a notarized copy of transcript or a grade report at the time of resume submission).
Have a strong interest in pursuing a health care career or be currently enrolled in a health care-related or business-related program.
Depending upon the position, possess basic computer skills in Windows, Word, Excel, Internet, E-mail, possibly PowerPoint, and be able to pass a keyboarding test at 20 wpm and achieve at least 50% at the basic level in Word and/or Excel for some positions; intermediate level for others.
Possess excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
Compose a paragraph describing what interests you in working in health care or in business.
Be able to attend New Employee Orientation on Monday, June 9, 2008, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Provide a resume which includes the following:
1. Identifying information: Name, address, phone number(s), e-mail address, etc.
2. Education: Name of school(s), Year in school, year graduate(d), major (if appropriate), GPA.
3. Work Experience: List any work experience by indicating position, company, dates of employment (month/year), job responsibilities, significant accomplishments, etc. If you do not have work experience, you may indicate as such.
4. Activities/Awards: You can list school, community or sports activities, if you like. List any types of awards, honors or special recognition.
5. Volunteer Activities: You can list any volunteer activities, if you like.
6. Career Interest: What is your career goal?
7. Paragraph: Compose a short paragraph on "Why I want to work in Health Care."
RECRUITMENT PROCESS:
NOTE: WE DO NOT HAVE INFORMATION ABOUT SPECIFIC POSITIONS OR LOCATIONS AT THE TIME OF THIS POSTING! ALL KP KIDS AT WORK POSITIONS ARE SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY.
1. Read over the requirements and determine if you do meet them.
2. Create or update a profile on the jobs.kp.org website. Copy and paste your resume into the profile. Attach your profile to this KP Kids at Work job posting. You must complete your resume submission by Monday, March 17, 2008. Late resumes will not be considered.
3. When submitting your resume to the opening, you will be asked the following questions:
Will you be 17 years old by June 1, 2008?
What is the name of your parent or guardian who works for Kaiser?
What is their relationship to you?
What level of school will you be in beginning Fall 2008?
Is your GPA at least 3.0 or above for Fall 2007?
At which location at which would you most want to work?
Which location would be your second choice?
Have you worked for Kaiser in the past?
If yes, in what department did you work?
Would you be willing to travel from clinic to clinic and work variablehoursthroughout the summer?
Are you looking to work full time or part time?
4. Once you have submitted your resume and your transcript or grade report, the recruiter will assess your information and will forward to you computer tests for keyboarding, Word and Excel through your e-mail. The tests will come from a testing company we use called Previsor. Your e-mail will say "select2perform" and will not say Kaiser Permanente. You must complete the tests by Monday, April 7, 2008, in order to be considered further.
5. Once the tests have been completed, you will be as closely matched as possible to open positions that are at or near the locations you have selected and that match your skill level. Those candidates who are qualified will move forward to the interviewing stage and will be given details surrounding the specific jobs available.
6. Please be sure to check your email weekly for any KP Kids updates. Recruiter will correspond primarily via e-mail and/or phone as necessary.
SALARY RANGE: $8.25/hr for High School Student; $10.00/hr for College Student. No benefits; no pay in lieu of benefits.
STATUS: Full or part time, depending upon position.
HOURS: Variable Monday through Friday, depending upon position.
