Job Position Details

Job Title: NDE Inspector

Location: Arnold Air Force Base, TN

Company: Jacobs

This position may be on first (7:00 am ? 3:30 pm) or second shift (3:00 pm ? 11:00pm)
Performs industrial radiography on piping, pressure vessels, rocket motors, test articles and other components in the Lab and field locations basewide.
Moves and positions solid rocket motors weighing up to 100,000 lbs.
Maintains all records required by State Regulations for Protection Against Radiation under the guidance of the Radiation Safety Officer.
Performs liquid penetrant and magnetic particle inspection of plant equipment, fabrications, test articles, and other components in Lab and field locations.
Monitors ongoing jobs, on and off site, by visual and other inspection techniques to assure code compliance.
Prepares inspection reports on proper forms, recording all data required by the governing code.
Performs In-Service Inspections of PHMS certified systems, document findings, and assist in monitoring corrective action.
Supports remote facilities (Tunnel 9) with NDE as required.
Monitors x-ray supplies and procure replacements in a timely manner.
Prepares TMDE for submittal to PMEL and monitor status.
Interfaces with MOCC, Model Shop, and facility personnel to coordinate work, meet required completion dates, and minimize interference with ongoing operations.
Requests overtime as necessary in a timely manner and with adequate justification.
Performs other duties as assigned


 Education, Training & Experience

Two years of college or vocational school with courses in engineering or an associated discipline plus six years of related experience. Must also meet specific education and experience requirements for certification as a Level II inspector in accordance with ASNT SNT-TC-1A guidelines in the following inspection methods:Industrial isotope radiography; Radiographic film interpretation, pipe and vessel welds; Magnetic particle inspection, visible dry powder technique; Liquid penetrant inspection, visible solvent removable technique; and Visual weld inspection
Must have a current valid Industrial Radiography Radiation Safety Personnel Certification Card (IRRSP). Must have a current valid Certified Welding Inspector certification card issued by the American Welding Society, or to be obtained within 6 months of employment. Must be familiar with construction codes, including AWS D1.1, ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel, and ASME Process Piping.

 Attendance

Regular attendance is essential to the efficient operation of ATA and is a necessary condition of employment. Each employee will be expected to adhere to the work schedule established by his/her supervisor and comply with the company?s attendance policy. Employees are expected to report to work at the scheduled time, return from breaks promptly, and depart work not earlier than the end of the scheduled day. Overtime is required to meet work schedules at an approximate rate up to 15%. This position requires the flexibility to work irregular hours (i.e., early mornings and late evenings).

Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance and to obtain and maintain access to the AEDC local area computer network.
