The Account Manager is responsible for the monthly financial reporting and consolidation process, the tax provision, SEC reporting, and actual versus budget departmental spending. The Account Manager assists with the SOX 404 (internal controls compliance) function and interacts frequently with the outside auditors as the finance liaison. The Account Manager also provides assistance and direction in the areas of A/P, A/R, Inventory and Payroll.Essential Accountabilities: 

Prepares monthly and quarterly consolidated financial statements, including quarterly statements of cash flows. Prepares annual tax provision calculations and required financial statement disclosures. Performs quarterly fluctuation analysis on balance sheet and P&L accounts. Performs monthly analysis and reconciliation of balance sheet and P&L accounts.

Assists the Controller in preparing quarterly and annual financial reporting documents required by the Securities and Exchange Commission (Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K) and other filings, as necessary; i.e. company financing transactions, debt refinancing, etc.

Reviews monthly reconciliation of all equity transactions, including grants of ISO and NSO stock options (and exercises) and DSUs, RSUs and other equity offerings, and records transactions in the general ledger.

Prepares quarterly stock-based compensation expense analysis, including various reporting and disclosure items, calculations for severance-related vesting acceleration charges, and other significant or unusual transactions (changes in ESPP assumptions, etc.).

Assists in the testing of internal control activities and related documentation, as required by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002. 

Researches and applies generally accepted accounting principles in the formulation of accounting policies and procedures as dictated by events, activities and changes in the business. Documents the results of such research in written form, in concise technical memos.

Consults with various internal ad-hoc task force groups as finance liaison.

Provides the monthly and quarterly analysis of budget vs. actual reporting and related research and analysis, including ad-hoc inquiries and projects. Provides input with respect to budgeting systems.

Oversees the completion and submission of all statistical and informational reporting requirements, including those imposed by Revenue Canada (and other affiliated government agencies) related to taxes (GST), research and development credits (R&D), etc. Responds to various US and foreign taxing authorities information requests, as necessary.

Responsible for all tax compliance issues, including corporate income tax returns in the US and Canada, and coordination with outside service providers.

Assist in annual budgeting process for Accounting & Finance department 1-80 and for many General & Administrative (G&A) expenses (interest income and expense, amortization of deferred milestone revenue, depreciation & amortization expense, etc.).

Oversight of all general-ledger accounting and financial reporting including AP, AR, Inventory, Payroll, General ledger (GL) changes and updates
