This position will provide leadership and implementation for PSEG Fossil Operation's safety program by establishing and maintaining accountability for industrial health and safety performance and program administration. [The assignment for this position is at Linden Generating Station (Combined Cycle)]. Establishes S&H Programs under general direction, provides technical guidance and administrative support to ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations that pertain to employee and contractor safety and health. Functions as a mentor and coach for management and represented employees to aid in establishing behavioral and human performance improvement. Major Responsibilities: Facilitate Fossil safety councils as assigned. Work with MAST and represented personnel to improve hazard recognition and human performance as they relate to safety. Perform self-assessments and observations of safety programs and processes. Create accident reports for occupational injury/illness and motor vehicle incidents and initiate relevant case management activities. Coordinate and perform accident and root cause investigations and implement corrective actions. Develop, implement and complete improvement plans to support initiatives to reach top performance in safety. Develop and maintain safety and health programs in compliance with federal and state regulations. Develop hazard control methods, programs and procedures. Work with Fossil Training to develop and deliver safety topics. Monitor training and performance to evaluate training effectiveness. Maintain and calibrate industrial hygiene equipment. Provide input and perform OSHA recordkeeping. May specialize in a related field such as loss control, industrial hygiene, or fire protection. Maintain and apply working knowledge of PSEG Standards for Business Controls and meet management’s expectations for effective internal business controls. Requirements: BS in Occupational Safety and Health or related field, or 5 years equivalent experience in industrial safety. Knowledge of power generation operations or maintenance. Must be able to work varying shifts to support station evolutions. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. CSP, CIH, OSHT or CUSA Certification preferred. Extensive knowledge of OSHA and DEP/EPA regulations.
