Chevron U.S.A. Inc. is accepting online applications for the position of Geological and Geophysical (G&G) Applications and Data Support Analyst located in Anchorage, Alaska through February 6, 2008.
Overview:
This position supports the MidContinent/Alaska (MCA) goals for G&G in the areas of Organizational Capability, Operational Excellence, Project Management and Business Transformation. In support of these goals, the candidate will provide local support while leveraging vendor our Information Technology Company (ITC) and Energy Technology Company (ETC) staff support.
This role builds customer and asset team relationships, and is proactive in suggesting and implementing solutions that are aligned with business unit objectives and Chevron International Exploration & Production (CIEP) computing strategies. In addition, this position assists IT and asset team members while working with other support personnel in developing core competencies.

Position Details:Responsibilities:
•Data Management support for corporate and project data stores, data integration to optimize for cross discipline use, data loading and data transfer. Responsible for implementing migration of data from legacy projects to NextGeneration formats.
•Responsible for making sure new and legacy data stores are correct and valid. Develop QC tools to validate, processes to correct, and workflows to keep the data correct going forward.
•Interface with vendors and ETC to acquire, install, and troubleshoot licenses for all G&G applications. Set up and assist in evaluations of new applications. Responsible for governance, acquisition, and installation of new applications.
•Identify training needs, schedule with customers and vendors to provide needed training in a timely manner.
•Application support including user troubleshooting, application upgrades, training, application environment support. Work with customers to build best practices and workflows to be propagated to other users and Business units where applicable.
•Load, quality check, and reformat seismic data as required. Work with Geophysicists, vendors, partners, brokers, and other business unit personnel to complete seismic data sales and trades.
•Monitor appropriate Dashboards and the Help Desk, and assist in resolving reported problems in a timely manner.
•Technical Infrastructure support including deployment, testing and support of PC, Linux and UNIX systems.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree required in MIS, Computer Science, Earth Science, Engineering. Master’s Degree preferred.
Selection Criteria:
An understanding of upstream operation processes in all areas (i.e. well planning, reservoir management, drilling operations etc). Ability to relate the data and application needs across the respective disciplines.
Technical Experience in supporting the major vendor applications in Chevron’s Technical Application environment. Familiar with Chevron's standards processes and architectures. Understanding of technical data management best practices and Technical Computing infrastructure. Ability to work with data and reformat for customer use.
Customer Interaction: Ability to build relationships and communicate well to all stakeholders. The candidate must be able to independently prioritize and manage multiple support responsibilities and tasks in a complex multi-user environment. Ability to work in a multi-functional team environment. Share information and collaborate with technical partners.
