BASIC FUNCTION: Consult with project teams or clients as a Data Specialist. Create or modify models that are consistent with the corporate direction and support the business challenges of the Enterprise/department/initiative. Create, maintain and integrate Business Area, Logical Data Models and Technology models. Ensure the models are developed consistent with current IS data principles, data methodologies and data standards. Analyze impact of proposed changes to physical file layout and define and coordinate database and MIS file data changes. Coordinate all related communications. Participate in continuous improvement of data management standards, guidelines and procedures. Participate in planning and development of strategic data improvement efforts. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or a related field. Demonstrated leadership ability to drive change, and to identify and deal with people, process and technology implications of change. Demonstrated ability and understanding of and/or desire to quickly learn and become proficient in the NML Application Architecture, particularly the data management component, data modeling methodology and tools, and the use of the PowerDesigner case tool. Demonstrated ability to effectively consult with clients. Demonstrated experience with data modeling and modeling concepts. Demonstrated experience with relational and dimensional design concepts. Minimum of six years of systems development or analysis experience. Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to deal with ambiguity. High degree of personal initiative and motivation. Strong interpersonal and communications skills. Ability to build rapport and credibility across teams. Ability to objectively assimilate facts and opinions and recommend appropriate data solutions. Strong influence and facilitation skills coupled with a positive customer orientation. Knowledge of insurance and Investment business processes and data desirable. Additional qualifications for a Grade 18: Eight years of experience in IS environment. Demonstrated experience in analyzing alternative approaches with the ability to negotiate a solution that meets the business need yet is within the standards and best practices for the data competency. Demonstrated ability to participate in strategic decisions and direction setting. Knowledge of insurance and/or investment business processes and data is required.
