For more information about our company click here: http://www.l-3com.com/cswPosition Profile: The Subcontracts Commodity Engineer evaluates and qualifies all technical aspects of the supplier qualification process and monitors the execution of subcontract technical process. Operates within a commodities subcontract organization structure as the technical interface between Engineering, Program Management and suppliers.Competencies: The successful candidates will evaluate the supplier’s ability to perform according to subcontract requirements. They will also assist Subcontract Managers with “make/buy” decisions and subcontracts technical management. This person collaborates with Subcontracts Program Managers and cross-functional subcontracts teams to optimize business process efficiencies and subcontractor performance. They promote resolution of supplier technical issues and ensures that changes in technical requirements are incorporated into controlling contractual documents and drawings. To qualify you will have work experience and technical knowledge in Mechanical Engineering, as well as working experience and knowledge of technical management, systems integration and test processes. The qualified candidate will be able to monitor supplier metrics for technical subcontracts as well as focus on continuous process improvement. They will also accurately assess subcontractor technical ability to manufacture according to company standards. Assessment of the technical risks of doing business outside of the company is also an essential skill. Strong Technical writing skills are essential. Systems Engineering experience and the ability to develop Statements Of Work (SOW's) and technical specifications is necessary. Knowledge of FARs, DFARs and ITARs is desired. This person mentors other subcontract technical support commodity engineers. -Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in an Mechanical Engineering is required. A master’s degree in an engineering discipline or a Masters of Business Administration or equivalent level of education, training, and/or experience is preferred.Minimum of ten (10) years of applicable engineering experience in the areas of technical support, manufacturing and product developmentis required.Special Requirements: Due to the nature of our work this position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance. In order to develop supplier relationships a willingness to travel is essential.Additional Comments: This position may be filled at a higher grade based on the successful applicants skills, education and experience.Job Location: Salt Lake City, UT
