Description: Bristol Looms is looking for a talented weaving intern to join its small team of fiber artists 10-15 hours a week. Although this internship is unpaid, the candidate may receive school credit if their program allows. This is a unique opportunity to build a tremendous portfolio, as well as gain real life experience.Position Summary: This internship offers the student interested in weaving and surface design techniques the opportunity to explore the use of new and innovative fibers. The intern will have the opportunity to learn small production weaving and the various steps needed to see a project from start to finish. The successful candidate will possess solid weaving skills, a familiarity with immersion dye methods, strong documentation skills, and be self-motivated and inquisitive. She will also have an interest in learning the basics for running a small business and how to market and sell products.Employer Information: Bristol Looms is a new retail store and gallery space located in the heart of Historic Downtown Bristol, Rhode Island. The space provides its customers the unique experience of seeing weaving in production as well as providing an outlet for local artists to display and sell their work.
