Summary Statement:
Applies basic and some advanced technical skills and knowledge to perform various production operations to fabricate, assemble and repair metallic and nonmetallic parts and assemblies used on operational aircraft.
Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:
Performs tasks that are required to fabricate, assemble and repair detail parts, subassemblies and assemblies used on operational aircraft. The level of work performed is simple to moderately complex requiring some skill and experience to determine plans and action from standard procedural alternatives.
Performs tasks that include routine and repetitive fabrication and assembly functions following established methods and procedures. Lays out and marks dimensions and reference lines on material with or without templates or shop aides. Routes, saws, drills or otherwise change and add value to detail parts and subassemblies according to work instructions.
Uses hand and power tools such as routers, drills, die grinders and other like tools to complete the required operations called out in the work instructions. Trims parts to fit and files, grinds, deburrs, bevels edges, polishes surfaces and other wise finishes out the material, part or assembly to specifications.
Assembles detail parts into subassemblies and complete assemblies using written and verbal work instructions. Drives and bucks rivets, bolts, screws and clips and prepares and applies adhesives to detail parts to assemble products. Installs assemblies in supportive framework according to blueprints. Inspects assemblies and installation for conformance to specifications.
Operates production machines and equipment such as hot or cold presses, shears, brakes, band saws, drill presses, lathes, mills and other like production machines to fabricate parts, components and material for production uses.
Reviews production and process documentation and production scheduling and planning and assist in expediting the flow of material, parts and assemblies.
Ancillary Functions and Responsibilities:
Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications other than the primary assignment.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
FABRICATOR / ASSEMBLER
Formal Education, Training and Work Experience:
Experience may be substituted for the formal education and training requirements in this section at the discretion of management. High School and/or technical school and two (2) to four (4) or more years of experience in fabrication and assembly of metallic and non-metallic parts used on operational aircraft, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Level of Supervision Required:
The level of supervision required described here is representative of that which must be met by a Stakeholder to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Works under general supervision. Work is reviewed for completion to quality standards and schedule requirements. May adapt techniques and tools to meet special needs with approval from management.
Special Skills, Licenses or Job Requirements:
• Demonstrate competency in applying the following in performing normal job duties.
• Read and interpret blueprints, production planning and detailed work instructions.
Special Training and Behavioral Competencies:
• Successfully complete job specific or specialized certification programs required for core tasks or special assignments.
• Safety training as required by OSHA.
• Complete the required NORDAM University training for all Stakeholders.
• Comply with The NORDAM Group Leadership Competencies for Stakeholders.
• Ability and willingness to assist and transfer technical knowledge to less experienced Stakeholders.
General Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Stakeholder to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the Stakeholder is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The Stakeholder frequently is required to walk and talk and hear. The Stakeholder is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The Stakeholder must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolding, platform ladders or other mechanical-elevated devices. Overtime is a requirement of the job. Must be able to work in excess of eight hours per day and five days per week.

While performing the duties of this job, the Stakeholder is regularly exposed to vibration. The Stakeholder is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
