Explanation Statement


John Deere Des Moines Works is seeking a Maintenance Planner to plan and schedule the ongoing maintenance and preventive maintenance for all of the plant equipment, as well as the building and facilities. In this position, you will:

Receive and analyze maintenance requests, including work order requests, PM schedules, and phone/email requests for assistance. 

Prioritize, plan, and assign duties to electricians on 1st shift. 

Provide technical support to skilled trades, to include acquiring drawings, reviewing proper procedures, identifying parts, equipment and tools. 

Provide work direction to personnel on a daily basis and may provide supervision in supervisor's absence. 

Identify sources, secure quotes and issue purchase orders for repair and spare parts, and other materials and services required to support maintenance activities. 

Track crib and self-help stock usage and inventory levels in order to maintain reasonable levels of inventory and support cost reduction efforts. 

Coordinate the creation and updating of preventative maintenance report to support improved machine uptime as well as OSHA and ANSI standards. 

Participate in engineering services projects to support the maintenance and operation of facilities and equipment. 

Gather and report a variety of measurements. 

 
 

 Qualifications 

 


Education 

Degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent experience.

Required Skills and Experience

Experience using desktop applications, specifically Microsoft Office. 

Manufacturing and/or operations experience. 

Familiarity in one of the following areas: electronics, mechanical or hydraulic. 

Computer systems knowledge, ideally including the systems used at John Deere. 

Knowledge of manufacturing and/or distribution processes, quality, safety, ergonomics, tooling, tool design and layout of facilities.

Desired Skills and Experience

Knowledge of drawing and schematic interpretation, product models, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. 

Understanding of machinery, assembly line and maintenance and how these processes interact with each other.
