The Indianapolis Star is seeking a Paraprofessional to provide support to editors and reporters as assigned by community newspaper editors. Responsibilities include: compiling accurate listings and calendars for publication, typing and re-writing press releases, gathering information for news briefs and assisting with research, performing daily checks of local enforcement agencies,gathering and inputting information for online databases,assistingeditors with correspondence, and covering telephones as needed.
Requirements:
College degree in related field preferred
Minimum of 3 years experience in gathering/processing news and/or information
Accurate typing skills of at least 50 WPM
Strong computer skills and Internet knowledge
Critical thinkingexcellent grammar skills
Knowledge of basic newspaper writing
Ability to work with minimal supervision
