For more information about DeVry University, visit http://www.devry.edu.Position SummaryUnder the general direction of the Help Desk Manager, the Lab Manager I configures, and operates academic labs to support faculty and students. The lab serves a campus with at less than 1,000 students and 150 Faculty and staff members. The Lab Manager must have knowledge to assist end users with all lab hardware and software. The Lab Manager has responsibility for the integrity and reliability of all lab hardware and software.Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1.Maintains the integrity and security of Metro IT assets, monitoring all rights and responsibilities as directed.2.Provides Tier 1 and 2 support to all Metro sites.3.Maintains electronic equipment with contracted or on-site support.4.Assures equipment availability daily in the classrooms and labs within the Metro.5.Coordinates daily inspections of equipment repairs and tracks all repairs in database.6.Develops needs analysis of equipment replacement and equipment repairs on an ongoing basis.7.Partners with faculty to assure appropriate delivery of the curriculum.8.Ensures user compliance with the campus computer use and lab policies.9.Works closely with customers to ensure consistency among lab operations, customer service initiatives and training.10.Works closely with the Academic Deans and Faculty to ensure that lab operations are meeting the requirements of Academic delivery.11.Initiates and maintains and software upgrades as appropriate, updating and evaluating files as new information is received.12.Creates, develops and manages all lab software computer images in coordination with Helpdesk manager.13.Assists the Metro IT Director with the development of lab security processes and implementation plans.14.Assists with supervising all employees, including Student Workers and/or temporary workers in the department.15.Participates in training and evaluation sessions as needed to recommend methods to improve lab environments.16.Assists campus outreach services in lab setups for visiting high schools and other organizations.17.Performs related duties as required.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Three to five years of experience in electronics, hardware, software support and PC configuration, and at least two years experience in networking systems required. Must have strong communication and training skills with the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical users. Must have knowledge to recommend computer tools to users including software, documentation and training. Must have a strong understanding of Windows Operating Systems and working knowledge of Symantic Ghost software. Will require evenings and/or weekends. Travel between the metro sites is required.
