The Georgia Department of Human Resources, Division of Public Health is seeking a Data Transcriber for the Laboratory.

Come join our team as a Data Transcriber 1 in the Data Processing Unit of the Georgia Public Health Laboratorys Central Lab in Decatur. This position may require moving boxes weighing up to fifty (50) lbs.
 This position performs high-volume computerized data entry. The primary responsibility is data entry of demographic and specimen information from the submission forms that accompany every specimen received into the GPHLs information system. Incumbent also records and processes all documents received, prepares data for terminal entry and generates output using computer software. This position will be required to meet an average daily quota. 

Please note: This position may be required to work Saturdays with a day off during the normal business week. Although this position is assigned to the Data Processing Unit, it may be reassigned to another unit depending on workload and/or laboratory requirements. 
 

 

Qualifications

Completion of a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent and six months experience in alpha-numeric entry, OR Completion of a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent and successful completion of a basic course in alphanumeric date entry ad the high school or post secondary level. 

In addition to meeting the above qualifications, preference will be given 
 to applicants who possess one or more of the following:

 

 Knowledge of M/LAB (The Georgia Public Health Labs information system) 

 Knowledge of Laboratory and/or medical terminology. 

 One year of alpha-numeric data entry 

 Experience in a laboratory or medical setting.
