It is a very important task of the IKEA store
to provide a day out for the whole family.
One part of this family friendly approach is to
provide a playroom where younger children
aged 3 to 10 can be dropped off by their
parents, freeing them to shop more easily.
Whether these playrooms follow the Ballroom
concept or our newer Småland concept, it is
the goal of the co-workers working in this
area to provide a fun, stimulating, safe and
clean experience for the children under their
care, and thereby a fantastic shopping
experience for their parents. It is an
important job requiring special people. We
are talking about children after all, the most
important people in the world. The Småland
or Ballroom Co-worker is part of the
Customer Service Team.
Your responsibilities
- Check and maintain the safety and
cleanliness of the playroom according to
stated guidelines and checklists together
with the cleaners and technical staff.
- Supervise children signed into the
Ballroom, ensuring good teamwork in the
operation of the playroom during the day.
This includes toilet needs and taking care of
individual children, making sure that there is
a good balance among children per play
activity, and co-workers handling the
checking-in and checking-out of children
and paging parents as needed.
- Create a fun environment for the children
in our care.
- Report accidents and incidents.
- Maintain level of supplies, etc. in the
playroom.
- Maintain close communication with
Customer Service Management with regards
to issues relating to the safety and security of
the children in our care.
- Continually develop your knowledge by
attending training classes as required.
- Contribute to an environment where the
IKEA culture is strong and where the diversity
of our co-workers and customers is valued
and embraced.
- Assume responsibility for projects and
tasks as they occur.
Requirements Knowledge
- Experience in working with and creating
stimulating environments for children of
different ages.
- First aid certification is useful.
Capabilities/Motivation
- Strong interest to work for a home
furnishings company.
- Will and ability for further development
within IKEA.
- Proactive and courteous customer service
and child care approach.
- Good communication skills.
- Skills in handling large groups of children.
- Capacity to work in a busy environment.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. (25kg)
Additional Information This is a PART TIME POSITION (19 hours per week or less). Applicants must be willing to work evenings and/or weekends.
