Job Title: Accountant III

Position Overview:
 Performs accounting and analysis activities for a specific accounting area and/or client group. 

 Function Specific Activities:Ensure all accounting entries and authorizations are in compliancewith Company Accounting Policy and GAAP.Reconcile and analyze balance sheet accounts to ensure transactionsare recorded accurately and account balances are accurately stated inaccordance with GAAP and Company policy. Research and resolve anyissues identified.Reconcile general ledger and subledger accounts to source data andsystems to ensure all transactions have been accurately recorded.Research and resolve any issues identified.Prepare accounting entries to properly record business and financialtransactions in Company financial systems.Identify, classify, maintain, and protect files, documentation andsensitive information consistent with record handling and retentionrequirements.Review and approve vouchers for accuracy and completeness.Consolidate, reconcile, review, and analyze financial information anddocumentation for submission and/or reporting.Establish, maintain, and promote internal controls (e.g., adherence toChart of Authority, separation of duties, etc.) to safeguard theCompany's assets.Identify and resolve outstanding financial issues or inquiries withappropriate HQ functions, field management, and/or Credit Unionmanagement.Conduct final check (e.g., check methodology, reasonableness,propriety of information) of financial material prior to distribution.Education:Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experienceRelated Work Experience:At least 2 yearsCore Competencies:Drives Innovative Business Improvements: Develops new insights into solutionsthat result in organizational improvements; promotes a work environment thatfosters creative thinking, innovation and rational risk-taking.Balances Immediate and Long-Term Priorities: Seeks to meet critical objectiveswhile considering the impact of those decisions and activities on the abilityto achieve long-term goals.Delivers Results: Focuses on the critical few objectives that add the mostvalue and channels own and others' energy to consistently deliver results thatmeet or exceed expectations.Imports and Exports Good Ideas: Relentlessly seeks, shares and adopts ideasand best practices in and outside the Company and embraces change introduced byothers.Develops and Inspires Others: Builds and maintains relationships thatmotivate, guide, and/or reinforce the performance of others toward goalaccomplishments. Knowledge of international,U.S. or local Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Thisincludes the ability to apply these principles and determine compliancewith the principles.Reconciliation. Ability to compare data from various data sources andidentify inconsistencies or variances.Basic Accounting Principles. Knowledge of basic accounting principles(e.g., debit and credit) around transactional processes (e.g.,accruals, derivatives, benefit plans, marketing programs).Basic Financial Analysis: The ability to analyze financial data (e.g.,validity of data including balance sheet account balance, P&L variance,volume trends, return on investments) This includes creatingspreadsheets, explaining variances, identifying issues, and makingappropriate recommendations.Customer Focus: Making customers (external and internal) and theirneeds a primary focus of one's actions; developing and sustainingproductive customer relationships; creating and executing plans andsolutions in collaboration with the customer.Financial Systems and Processes. Ability to research financial systemsand processes (e.g., journal vouchers, expense reports, vendor file) toresolve issues (e.g., missing expense checks, missing journalvouchers).Control Environment. Ability to assess current controls to ensure thatassets are safeguarded and that transactions are authorized, recorded,and reported. This may include designing and implementingcost-effective systems and procedures properly.
