Position Description/Tasks to be performed (Health Research Analyst); Data Management Analyst is needed to provide data management and statistical analysis support for surveillance activities at OSH for the Youth Tobacco Survey (YTS) and the Adult Tobacco Survey (ATS). The YTS survey is a school-based survey conducted in collaboration with OSH technical assistance and support to states. The ATS survey is a telephone survey conducted in collaboration with OSH technical assistance and support to states. The Analyst will be responsible for survey development, methodological design, sample selection, data management, processing and analysis, and technical assistance of these complex statistical surveys. Under the direction of OSH staff the Analyst will utilize statistical analysis and data management software (e.g., SAS, SUDAAN, Epi Info, SPSS, STATA) in working with other team members to clean data files, generate probability samples, construct sample weights, manage data processing, and conduct descriptive analyses. Other responsibilities include conducting epidemiologic analyses (e.g., categorical, linear regression, and logistic regression analyses) on the YTS and ATS data, and other datasets important for tobacco control. The Analyst will provide training and assistance to states and countries related to answering technical questions about sampling, the survey process and the results of the data. Required/Essential Skills/Experience to Perform the Work Additional Desired Skills/Pluses Education BS/BA - Required New Grads will be considered MS/MA/MBA/MPh - Required Required major(s)(if applicable) - Public Health or other science related field relevant to Tobacco Use or Chronic Disease Prevention and Control Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to brief scientific staff on progress/problem. Public health work experience desired. Strong data management skills necessary. Skill using SAS and Excel a must; Experience with SPSS, STATA and SUDAAN helpful. Experience managing and analyzing large datasets. Knowledge of population-based surveys and statistics Knowledge of survey sampling and randomization; Knowledge of population-based surveys and statistics. Must be able to travel internationally.
