Purpose 
Lead Package Development and Technology for Innovation Projects across a designated project /brand portfolio- Lead and manage package engineering of innovative pack technology and components to drive the NA and LatAM Innovation Pipeline and Financial targets. To provide technical implementation in NA and LATAM in support of the Global Dispense Innovation projects
- To evaluate and recommend, based on consumer insight and familiarity with leading edge technology, a range of alternatives to enable effective routes to delivery of the above, to enable quick decision making
- To directly manage certain projects /activities and present these to customers and senior management in Operations. Deputize for Innovation Managers on specific projects in their absence.

Future volume and EP growth in Diageo will be supported by identifying and implementing innovative technical solutions to meet and/or exceed consumer needs.

- The role will interact with a wide range of colleagues in Operations sites to organize trials and testing and help deliver projects into the business

Management Responsibility 
Responsible for supporting Innovation Managers in developing technical solutions to meet global product packaging & dispense innovation objectives.
Responsible for line management of 1 Packaging Manager
- Procurement authority within agreed limits.- This role supports the Packaging & Dispense Innovation Director.

Complexity of Role 
Deliver the optimum technical solution for innovation projects to achieve maximum differentiation 
- Work closely with the Cross Functional Innovation teams to drive substantial and incremental projects through the NaviGate process.- Proactively bring technical insights and opportunities to the innovation process- Support the broader Diageo technical community as and when required
- Inspire and coach the Packaging and Dispense Innovation Technology

Key Outputs/Deliverables 
- Design, organize, run and report on technical assessment trials and support production trials in order to conclude testing and validation.
- Co-ordinate and deliver the production of samples and prototypes.
- Co-ordinate and deliver the production of volumes for market research and pre-launch needs- Liaise with Sensory function to organize taste panels to assess new products
- Validate with appropriate analytical support, microbiological, physiochemical and flavor stability of new products.
- Source material for prototypes and samples- Collate the relevant data for the compilation of technical specifications.- Manage agreed projects & activities and present these to customers and senior management
- Keep abreast of new and innovative materials & technology and be proactive in bringing EP positive opportunities to the attention of the business.

Experience 
- A degree in Package Engineering with at least 5 years of direct consumer packaged good experience.
- Successful Candidates will have strong technical and creative depth, performance management skills, dynamic cross-functional interactions, and highly effective project management, communication and negotiation skills.
