Overseeing the development, administration, and evaluation of effective internal and external communication processes and mechanisms to support Aurora’s mission, vision, values, and strategic initiatives. Directing internal communications to ensure communications are informative, address key organization issues, and guide leadership on messaging, key organizational initiatives. Ensuring external communication initiatives engage Aurora’s targeted audiences.
Overseeing the development and execution of public relations plans and initiatives, which includes media relations, and crisis response efforts. Positioning Aurora to the media and general public as an organization that is committed to providing the highest quality of integrated health care for the best value. Acting as the region’s senior contact for the media and cultivates effective working relationships with reporters to secure coverage that enhances awareness of Aurora’s activities within the communities it serves.
Overseeing the social responsibility efforts, which includes community relations, community sponsorships, community engagement initiatives, and community-based services.
Directing the development and execution of regional sustained, planned, and major giving philanthropy initiatives, which contribute to the delivery of high quality, cost-effective health care services.
Formulating and overseeing local government relations strategies and policies to advance organizational messages to governmental officials. Establishing effective relationships that result in legislators and regulators actively soliciting and thoughtfully considering Aurora’s input on important health care matters early in the decision making process. Advocating for rational and effective policy positions such as health care financing and coverage.

Performing human resource responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, salary adjustments, resolution of employee concerns, disciplinary counseling, terminations and employee morale.
Being accountable for the development, implementation, and monitoring of budgets (expense, assets, production, projects).
Developing and administers policies and procedures to accomplish department-specific and organizational initiatives.

General Qualifications
Advance level of knowledge of marketing, communications, and general business practices, equivalent to that which would be acquired by completing a regionally accredited masters degree program.
Knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform this job are typically acquired through a minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experiences leading Communications, Public Relations, Government and/or Philanthropy in a large complex organization. Leadership experience should include management of staff, budgets and multiple functions at the executive level.
Demonstrated ability to develop strategic and tactical plans to meet business objectives in a large healthcare system.
Demonstrated knowledge of various fund development programs (i.e. major, planned, and annual giving).
Demonstrated knowledge of legislative, regulatory policy development and government programs.
Expertise in marketing plan development and successful implementation of strategic communication initiatives.
Excellent presentation, analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and negotiating skills.
Ability to understand the needs of a diverse population and a larger corporate structure. Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with internal and external strategic decision makers of all levels.
An understanding of health care delivery and financing systems. Solid understanding of health care dynamics.
Ability to handle multiple, conflicting, complex, simultaneous demands in geographically dispersed areas.
Outstanding project management skills.
Demonstrated ability to function effectively in situations involving high-level negotiations.
