The Data Entry Specialist maintains the following position responsibilities: 
•Input accurate data from clinical review process into State of Maine’s claims payment system (MECMS). 
•To input accurate data obtained from MECMS into CareConnections. 
•Ensure the accuracy of this data by participating in QA processes. 
•Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1.Responsible for daily processing of authorizations from CareConnections into MECMS to ensure Prior Authorization numbers are obtained and then accurately entered back into authorizations in Care Connections for provider billing purposes.
2.Accurate and consistent working knowledge of MaineCare Procedure Codes and reimbursement rates specific to all services contracted to be reviewed by APS. 
3.Providing courteous, professional customer service via phone and email to both internal and external customers. This includes maintaining adequate response times to customers’ requests.
4.Running quality assurance reports of data entered; reviewing and correcting data as necessary.
5.Other duties as assigned.
6.Answering incoming calls as needed to the Call Center. This includes: routing calls, gathering precise/accurate demographic information, accurate documentation of messages and distribution of information to appropriate persons.

EDUCATION:
Minimum High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

REQUIREMENTS:
•Minimum one year experience with computers. Prior office experience desired. Must have an eye for detail, must be concerned with accuracy and integrity of data. Must have the ability to talk on the phone while documenting information into the computer system.
•Must type minimum 40+ words per minute, with minimal errors.
•Must present a current typing test from the job service.
•Must be able to operate 10-key without looking, with minimal errors.
•Must have some working knowledge of general office software in a PC environment to include: MS Word, Excel and Access.
•Must have professional customer service skills via phone, email, or through direct contact.
•Must provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers: must be adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people; must react favorably in all work situations. All interpersonal relations (in person, via phone, or via email) must be handled in a professional manner.
•Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping. 
•Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard and mouse, photocopier, adding machine, and phone.
•Requires normal range of hearing and vision to record, update, and prepare data for reporting purposes. 
•Requires dexterity and data entry skills.
