SEIU Local 6 has a position immediately available in Seattle to support organizing and bargaining campaigns for both security officers and janitors. SEIU is looking for an activist researcher who has experience in the labor movement, community organizing, or political work. Researcher will work with organizing leads and political and communications staff to develop and implement corporate, legal, legislative, and regulatory strategies to advance organizing and bargaining campaigns. Work will also include tracking key real estate players and industrial trends, doing company profiles, as well as personal investigative research.
Job Qualifications: Strong commitment to progressive social change and activist experience; Proven ability to utilize information from and about workers, employers, economic/financial research on company or industry to inform and develop campaign strategies; Strong research & quantitative skills; Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and a variety of computer-based research tools; Excellent writing and communications skills a must; Familiarity with basics of accounting and corporate financial analysis; Ability to work well under tight deadlines and in a team environment.
Preferences: Ability to speak Spanish, Vietnamese or Amharic a plus.
