JOB STATEMENT:
The Registered Vascular Technologist performs diagnostic imaging studies including lower extremity, ABI with and without exercise, carotid Doppler, and other vascular studies. Uses skills to combine physics, electrophysiology and clinical diagnosis to provide complete accurate data so physicians can make to make informed interpretations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Performs vascular diagnostic procedures in a timely manner; documents required information and communicates to physicians and direct care staff pertinent information.
2. Uses ausculatory findings, Doppler Physics and Ultrasound Anatomy to assess patients.
3. Uses advanced understanding of vascular systems to assess patient conditions and situations for performing procedures.
4. Completes all documentation including worksheets, video, chart recording and digital archiving.
5. Follows departmental policy and procedure for performing and processing all procedures including: proper scheduling, ordering, coding and charging, computer entry, coping, filing and distribution.
Job Requirements
Education and Experience: High School graduate or equivalent. College level courses in anatomy, biology, chemistry and electronics is desirable. Minimum of one year experience in Echocardiography. Minimum of two years in Cardiology procedures as a Cardiovascular tech. Registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers in Ultrasound physics, abdomen and OB/GYN and either Vascular or Echocardiography.
Licensure: Current Registry in Adult Echocardiography or Registry eligible in one of the following: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Registered Cardiovascular Technologist (RCVT). Must possess an additional licensure as a Registered Pediatric Echocardiography (RDCS) or a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT).
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills: Skills to work independently are essential. Must possess good written and oral English communication skills. Analytical and clerical ability is necessary to effectively provide care, interpret data and accurately document findings. Must have an advanced knowledge of cardiology procedures. Ability to operate various types of electronic equipment, clinical equipment and computers.
