Job Position Details

Job Title: HEALTH PROMOTION SPECIALIST DIABETES (OUTPATIENT) PRN

Location: Norman, OK

Company: Norman Regional Hospital

Assesses, plans, organizes, and implements group diabetes education, support groups and individual patient consults for diabetes patients and their families or significant other. Evaluates and tracks outcomes of diabetes program and communicates to ediba Diabetes Center, NRH administration, physicians, patients and staff members. Documents education provided and completes required paperwork for productivity and billing services. Facilitates advances in the care of the in-hospital diabetes patient and supports changes in processes which enhanced care. 
 


Job Requirements:

 

 

Bachelors Degree in Nursing or Health related field, or equivalent experience. Masters Degree Preferred. Word Processing, Powerpoint, and Windows proficiency preferred. Must be able to communicate in English. (verbal/written) Associates Degree in Nursing and 6 years experience will be accepted in lieu of a BSN. 
 
Two years experience as a clinical nurse and two years experience in diabetes patient care. Formal Adult Teaching/facilitation or equivalent experience (total 4 years) Prefer experience with diabetes patients. Adult teaching/facilitation experience preferred. Additional years of clinical experience will be considered if adult teaching experience is limited. 
 
Registered as an RN in the State of Oklahoma. Basic Life Support (BLS) training or re-training is required during orientation prior to providing patient care. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment.Certified Diabetes Educator certification required or may be attained within 2.5 years of hire date.
