I. POSITION PURPOSE As a Project Lead in Architectural Services, you will be working on the production of construction documents for our multi-unit clients. You will work both independently and within a team to perform advanced level tasks and research issues. Using advanced knowledge of Architecture you will use CAD or other software to complete projects in accordance with client requirements, code requirements, standards, and site adjustments. This role requires significant exercise of judgment on details relative to the completion of construction plans, such as modifications needed. You will be expected to train, assist, and provide directions and instruction within your team, as well as share knowledge, in order to produce a complete set of construction documents for projects. You will work under a team Job Captain and directly report to the A/E Studio Manager. You will be responsible for your specific discipline section of a project, meeting established timeframes, and ensuring total project deliverables exceed the expectations of our clients. In this role your key learning opportunities will include: developing advanced technical knowledge in your discipline; gaining exposure to client relationship management and project management skills; enhancing your competency for training others in your discipline; and working with various clients and projects in one or two segments of the restaurant, retail, and petroleum industries.II. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES In addition to following company values, policies, and procedures, responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Production (75%) § Access client prototype files from CAD file database to work on assignments § Document and save project work to ensure file management integrity and production quality § Determine the appropriate elements to be drafted in the production drawings, based on client’s prototype and your knowledge and experience of the construction document process and architectural concepts § Provide direction to team members on making required changes on construction documents § Perform and/or verify research and due diligence with all Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ’s) for applicable codes respective to each project location § Consult with other discipline technical resources for assistance or clarification on unusual problems § Verify accuracy of the project information and measurements through site visit or information gathered by othersProject Workflow (15%) § Coordinate with the Job Captain and other disciplines within a project team and (when applicable) external resources for project requirements § Communicate with the Job Captain on the status of your team’s progress as it relates to scope of a project’s timeline § Utilize online project management tool to enter information regarding status of the project deliverablesProject Coordination (10%) § Coordinate and collaborate with Job Captain and discipline leads within a production team regarding initial project scope for construction documents to ensure accuracy in meeting client specifications, criteria, building code requirements, budget and timeframe § Communicate effectively with all associate team members to ensure understanding of responsibilities and accountabilities and provide assistance when needed on technical questions or issues § Prepare the planning submittals, exhibits, building plan review applications and building department response letters § Make changes to bulletins and addendumsIII. TRAVEL, ENVIRONMENT, AND TYPICAL PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES The position performs work in an open workstation environment in a typical interior office, utilizing a personal computer and telephone for performing tasks and communication with internal and external contacts. The position requires working with CAD or other software on a personal computer for 80% of the time. Projects are conducted individually and within teams. The position may occasionally require local and/or overnight travel, via airplane or automobile, to the project location to collect data and physical site measurements.IV. KEY COMPETENCIES, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED Minimum § 4 - year Bachelors degree in Architecture or a related technical field, or equivalent knowledge gained from education and/or work experience § 3 - 5 years work experience in Architecture § 3 years experience working on production of construction documents § Demonstrated competence with the A/E design process § Advanced level knowledge of Architectural specifications and concepts used to complete construction documents § Proficiency in the current version of AutoCAD or Microstation software § Proficiency with Microsoft “Office” suite of programs § Knowledge and understanding of Architectural and Engineering codes § Familiarity with commonly utilized calculation and compliance software/techniques relevant to job function § Ability to follow instruction from team members § Ability to delegate tasks through clear and concise communication to team members § Ability to multi-task on various stages of projects while meeting specified deadlines on each project Preferred § Experience working with projects in variety of client industries such as restaurant, retail, or petroleum § Experience working in a cross functional team environment
