Job Position Details

Job Title: P.T. Order Picker, Mon & Fri, Shift 2 & Sat 10 am - 6:30 pm

Location: Franklin, MA

Company: Owens & Minor

Responsible for filling customer orders and delivering them to the delivery platform in a manner that meets Company standards for safety, security, and productivity. Responsible for the completeness and correctness of all orders filled.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


1.Receives pick tickets from Warehouse Supervisor and reads order to ascertain catalog number, size, color, and quantity of merchandise.


2.Obtains merchandise from bins or shelves.


3.Picks customer orders for shipment, ensuring that the correct number and type of product is loaded and shipped.


4.Carries or transports orders to shipping locations or delivery platforms with materials handling equipment, ensuring orders are staged in order of delivery.


5.Operates any materials handling equipment safely and efficiently as required.


6.May organize items of pallet by hospital unit.


7.Re-packs and weighs orders which require such handling.


8.Maintains material handling equipment by noting and reporting any damage or malfunction and connecting battery to recharging station at the end of shift.


9.Assists in maintaining the security and safety of the warehouse.



SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


1.May assist in placing incoming items in inventory.


2.May conduct physical inventories as required.


3.Performs additional duties as directed.



EQUIPMENT, TOOLS AND WORK AIDS:


Hand truck, forklifts, forms, inventories .



 WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS:


May be exposed to dust, heat, and humidity to the degree of being disagreeable


May be exposed to electrical current while maintaining material handling equipment batteries.



STRENGTH REQUIREMENT:


Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.



TYPE OF PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


Acuity, near

Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less.


Depth Perception
Three-dimensional vision.
Ability to judge distance and space relationships so as to see objects where and as they actually are. This factor is important when depth perception is required for successful job performance and/or for reasons of safety to oneself and others.


Crouching

Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.


Crawling

Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.

 

Reaching

Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

 

Handling

Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hands. Fingers are involved only to the extent that they are an extension of the hand.

 

Fingering

Picking, pinching, or otherwise working with fingers primarily (rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling).


Talking

Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Talking is important for those activities in which workers must impart oral information to clients or to the public, and in those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.


Hearing

Perceiving the nature of sounds. Hearing is important for those activities which require ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on running engines.



QUALIFICATIONS


A.EDUCATION & FORMAL TRAINING:


General knowledge of a variety of basic topics, such as math, reading, basic accounting, typing, etc. Equal to a high school diploma.



B.WORK EXPERIENCE:


Up to 3 months.



C.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:



Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
