Scope: Responsible for all safety related and OSHA compliance activities for Brown-Forman Cooperage locations encompassing five production facilities located in Kentucky, Ohio and Tennessee employing approximately four hundred union, non-union, skilled crafts and salaried employees.
Basic Function: Stays abreast of individual state and federal OSHA regulations and compliance requirements; Brown-Forman safety policies and industry norms and practices related to providing safe, compliant operating environments at each B-F Cooperage location. Establishes safety policies and practices; coordinates and conducts plant safety audits, safety related training and periodic review and evaluation of safety procedures and practices; supports and advises plant safety committees; and serves as the primary liaison with the corporate Safety Director and Risk Management on safety related issues.
Responsibilities: Stays abreast of state and federal OSHA regulations, B-F safety related policies and procedures and individual facility practices and monitors operations at each facility to identify safety related needs to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory and company requirements. 1, 20%
Ensures all required documentation including logs, manuals, accident reports and investigations, required training documentation, HAZMAT documentation and all other required or applicable safety related documentation is properly executed, maintained and stored. 1, 20%
Sets goals, priorities and objectives for safety practices, procedures and programs and in collaboration with facility management implements these policies and procedures to maintain a safe and compliant workplace. 2, 20%
Develops, prepares, coordinates and presents health and safety training programs both to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and for safety education and accident prevention. 1, 15%
Monitors safety related costs and metrics, provides input into safety related budgetary items, tracks performance to plan and prepares reports and presentations on safety costs and metrics. Coordinates activities and performance on the Safety Metrics program and conducts plant audits and evaluations to track and monitor performance and progress. 1, 15%
Coordinates facility safety committees, safety incentive programs, recognition programs and other activities in conjunction with safety awareness. 3, 10%
Must Experience: Bachelors Degree in Occupational (Environmental) Health and Safety, Industrial Safety or a related field with two or more years experience in an industrial or manufacturing work environment.
Basic knowledge of applicable federal, state and local health and safety laws, regulations and standards
Excellent written and oral communication skills and knowledge of basic computer applications including word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective work relationships with all levels of personnel
Willingness to travel in a three-state region on an occasional basis
Preferred Experience: Certified Safety Professional
Previous work experience in the liquor or cooperage industry
