Description 

 

Tasks include managing approximately 25-35 lab technicians, in support of the advanced communications and data links groups within GS engineering. 

Description of work:
?Responsible for the oversight of daily operations of the labs. Assists or provides guidance through direct supervision of nonexempt employees 
?Responsible for execution and implementation of facility plans, lab design, and capital acquisition plans 
?May be responsible for establishing and assuring adherence to budgets 
? Develops and administers schedules, work plans, and performance requirements
? Actively involved in daily operations required to meet schedules or to resolve complex problems
?Internal contact with subordinates or other management that involves specific phases of a project or operations
?Responsible for workforce planning to ensure the efficient operation of the function. Oversees selection of future employees, development (training), and performance management and/or evaluation of current employees
?Apply lean principles to reduce cycle time, cost, and waste reduction to manage utilization of space, personnel, and equipment 
?Proactively seek additional roles and responsibilites for lab personnel to maximize value to both internal and external customers
?Act as coach and mentor for subordinates, customers, and new hires with respect to Engineering lab capabilities and processes
?Provide audit support for various RC functions including environmental safety and health ESH 

Position requires a DoD Security Clearance - U.S. Citizenship required

 Qualifications 

 Bachelor's degree in appropriate discipline, and six years of related experience, or, in the absence of a bachelor's degree, twelve years of related experience.
