Job DescriptionGeneral Dynamics Information Technology is a top-tier IT integrator that provides information technology, systems engineering and professional services to customers in the defense, intelligence, homeland security, federal civil and commercial sectors.  Provide support to a federal agency's Information Assurance program for full life cycle security implementation and management. This support includes security certification and accreditation, firewall administration, administration and monitoring of the intrusion detection system, incident response, risk analysis, and performance of IT security audits. 
 
 
 
 PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
 
 
 1.Monitors, evaluates, and maintains all procedures necessary to ensure the safety of information systems assets and to protect systems from intentional or inadvertent access or destruction;
 
 2.Interfaces with user community to understand their security needs and implements procedures to accommodate them;
 
 3.Ensures that the user community understands and adheres to necessary procedures to maintain security;
 
 4.Identifies potential threats and responds to reported security violations;
 
 5.Determines causes of security violations and recommends corrective actions to ensure data security;
 
 6.Weighs business needs against security concerns and articulates issues to management and/or customers;
 
 7.Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced technical staff members;
 
 8.May serve as a technical team or task leader;
 
 9.Participates in special projects as required. 

 1. 5-8 years of related experience in data security administration;
 
 2. Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience. 

 A thorough knowledge and understanding of network security best practices is required. Additional responsibilities include assisting in the development and implementation of the agency's cyber security program; full-scope security certification and accreditation activities; development and implementation of information and information system security policies and procedures, and assisting with business continuity planning (BCP).
 
 
 WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is typically performed in an office environment, which requires normal safety precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes or equipment.
