The Government Relations Manager will establish our government affairs function in Kentucky and be responsible for all legislative/executive branch relationships, legislative communication, constituent response, political giving, capital project promotion and lobbying activities in Kentucky. 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES: 
* Identifies issues before legislative and regulatory agencies that may affect the Company's interest and takes appropriate action to support, oppose or modify based on position developed with management. 
* Promotes Company's legislative/regulatory agenda with government officials to achieve specific goals approved by management. 
* Identifies, develops and maintains relationships with state and local government officials and their staff; develops matrix of key officials for which management will be assigned cultivation responsibility and provides necessary support to accomplish objective; develops a political contribution strategy and recommendations. 
* Tracks and reports regularly to management on status of legislative/regulatory initiatives and matters of interest. 
* Provides prompt response and follow-up to government requests and assists with constituent inquiries. 
* Communicates Company's key messages consistently and proactively advises government officials of Company events and activities affecting the state (e.g., capital projects). 
* Coordinates on community relations, charitable giving and media relations to ensure consistent message/image building. 
* Participates, and takes leadership role, in key trade groups; identifies, retains and manages selected outside lobbying firms as needed. 

REQUIREMENTS: 
* Bachelor's degree in political science, marketing, communications or a closely related field. 
* At least 10 years of experience in government affairs or a closely related function. 
* Extraordinary communication skills. 
* Positive references in Frankfort and Washington a must.
