Job Description:


Assists surgeon during C-sections. Ensures surgical suite is adequately prepared for C-sections. Ensures labor and delivery rooms are adequately stocked and prepared. Cleans, wraps and sends all instruments to Central Service for sterilization. Assists Labor and Delivery nurses when needed. Participates in department performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities. Provides indirect patient care in the maternity setting, consistent with the units standards of care. Meets the communication needs of the patient/family, departmental staff and medical staff. Demonstrates basic computer knowledge. Prepares and compiles records in the Maternal Child Health Department. Initiates directions from physician and nursing staff. Participates in performance improvement activities. Maintains regulatory agency requirements, nursing and hospital policies, procedures and standards. Demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy and goals of the unit and organization; remains flexible to changing systems; is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits; and treats staff, physicians, patients and families with consideration and respect. Position is per diem and not benefits eligible.

Job Requirements: 


High School Graduate or equivalent. 

Ability to obtain a Surgical Technician License within 90 days of hire. 

Ability to obtain a Certified Nursing Assistant License within 90 days of hire. 

Current BLS Certification. 

Minimum of one (1) year of work experience in OB or in the Operating Room.
