Manage the Quality function in the injection molding department by developing and maintaining quality control plans, dealing with non-conforming material, customer complaints, CAPAs and providing quality metrics to Manufacturing and Quality management. Assure the manufacturing areas are compliant to regulations and GMP and support continuous improvement activities for improved quality and production.

1. In conjunction with the Production Manager, Supervisors, Engineers, and Maintenance personnel, troubleshoot and identify production floor quality problems through analysis and interpretation of inspection and process data. 

 

2. Responsible for the documentation, disposition, root cause and corrective action activities of non-conforming material. 

 

3. Responsible for the investigation, documentation, root cause and corrective action activities of customer complaints and communicate the results to the appropriate production, engineering and regulatory compliance personnel. 

 

4. Develop quality plans, review and approve manufacturing SOPs, raw material specifications and raw material inspection plans for new products and processes and any changes to the existing products or processes. 

 

5. Review and approve part and tooling drawings.

 

6. Develop inspection methods and employ Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (Gage RR) studies. 

 

7. Review and approve validation protocols for new processes and improvements/modifications to existing processes. 

 

8. Support and Manufacturing and Quality process improvements projects as an effective team member/leader using continuous improvement tools, supporting Lean Blitzes and Six Sigma Projects.

 

9. Support the Quality department by performing Internal and supplier audits

 

10. Directly supervise the activities of the Quality Technicians. 

 

11. Comply with all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures including RCRA Hazardous waste regulations. 

 

12. Comply with all local BD quality policies, procedures, and practices through consistent application of sound quality assurance principles. 

 

13. Other duties as assigned.

 

 
 

 Qualifications 

 

Minimum Education:B.S. degree in Engineering or a related science field. 


Minimum Experience: Five (5) years of experience in Quality Engineering or equivalent with emphasis on Root Cause and Corrective Action, Continuous Improvement, Six-Sigma tools and techniques and process validations. 

 Two (2) years of experience with Injection molding processes and measurement experience using vision systems, micrometers, calipers, laser micrometers, etc. 


 Auditing experience, Certification as an ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, knowledge of document systems and knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques are desirable. CMM experience is desirable. 

 Geometric DesignTolerancing (GDT) knowledge desirable.
