GENERAL SUMMARY Provides clerical support to department manager or staff, such as filing, preparing mailings, word-processing, and answering telephones. Normally receives general direction, but works independently to meet deadlines in accordance with established guidelines and procedures. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES - Establishes/maintains departmental filing system. Stocks department office supplies and forms. - Prepares mailings for distributions. Sorts and routes department mail. - Performs data entry. Uses a variety of word-processing software to type letters, reports and presentation materials. - Answers telephone inquiries, takes and relays messages. - Photocopies and delivers interoffice memos as necessary. - Assists other support staff as needed; operates photocopying and fax machines. - May delegate work to other non-exempt personnel. - Performs other duties as required. JOB SPECIFICATIONS - High school degree or equivalent. - Intermediate math, reading and writing skills. - Strong clerical skills. - Prior experience with software used by department. - Usually one-year prior clerical or comparable experience required. - Skills testing as appropriate.
