This is a Temporary Appointment Not to Exceed (NTE)1039 hours in a Serviceyear. Work schedule for this position is Full-Time or Intermittent Employment.
Incumbent is aPark Ranger (Interpretation) at DeSoto National Monument, Bradenton, FL whoperforms a variety of tasks designed tofacilitate visitor understanding of park resources and facilitate visitor enjoyment of the park and its resources.
AREA INFORMATION: De Soto National Memorial is located in Bradenton, Florida (population 48,000) on the Gulf of Mexico in Manatee County. The weather is sub-tropical, with winter temperature lows in the 30s and summer temperature highs in the 90s with extremely high humidity. Bradenton is a winter seasonal tourist area with recreational and shopping facilities, close to beautiful white sandy beaches. Educational facilities include Manatee County public schools, community college, vocational-technical school, and various colleges and universities. The closest major city is Tampa, 50 miles to the north.
