The General Dynamics Information Technology - Network Solutions group is searching for talented network and systems security professionals to join our U.S.A.F. IT Solutions team. General Dynamics is a world-class provider of network and systems security services for the U.S. Department of Defense. This position is responsible for engineering, furnishing, implementing, testing, training, and documenting highly complex world-wide enterprise class networks, information systems, infrastructure, and information security architectures and solutions. This is a high-profile, high-paced mission-critical position that revolves around reshaping the U.S.A.F. communications networks, systems, security, and information assurance / operations to meet the needs of the Warfighter.
The Information Assurance Systems Engineer (IA Engineer) role on the projects is a key element of our overall services and solutions for our customers programs. IA Engineers must be Subject Matter Experts (SME) on applicable technology and have excellent communications and analysis skills. The IA Engineer will perform the following job duties and responsibilities:
•Designing, engineering, configuring, installing, testing, and documenting complex architectures and component configurations relating to Information Assurance and Security products and/or solutions;
•Participate in design and peer reviews, Certification and Accreditation (C&A) process (DITSCAP/DIACAP);
•Discover Information Protection Needs
•Define System Security Requirements
•Design System Security Architecture
•Develop Detailed Security Design
•Implement System Security
•Assess Information Protection Effectiveness
•Plan Technical Effort
•Manage Technical Effort
•Experience with Shenick, Threatex, MuSecurity, Arbor, other security testing tools a plus
•Knowledge or Worm/Virus/Trojans (and the difference)
•Knowledge of VoIP and IMS systems a plus
•Ability to work with vendors on solutions
•Experience with Networking Lab operations
•Provide subject matter expertise for the development of proposals (technical writing);
•Feasibility analysis, technical case studies, and cost estimates;
•Analyze and transform operational and/or security needs into solutions while remaining compliant with regulations, policies and procedures; document description of system parameters and integrate those parameters to optimize the overall solutions effectiveness and efficiency at task;
•Research, analyze, recommend and implement new technologies, standard processes, tools and techniques where applicable using creative and innovative solutions;
•Create portions of information technology plans based on an understanding of the customer's organizational strategic direction, technology context and business needs;
•Researches, evaluates and stays current on emerging tools, techniques and technologies; maintain skills and capabilities through education, training, and hands-on experiences;
•Perform mentoring and training tasks for peers and customers as required; transfer project knowledge to other team members and customers as required;
•Perform risk identification, assessment, remediation, and planning for all aspects of performance.
Qualified candidates will be self-motivated, responsible, technically apt, and business professionals. Candidates must have demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive team relationships with a variety of internal and external customers, peers, and management. Candidates must have demonstrated the ability to work independently, make appropriate timely decisions, and implement redirects without undue stress. Candidates must have Project Management experience and be familiar with a project management methodology. Candidates must have demonstrated the ability to timely, appropriately, and effectively deal with customer issues and conflict.
Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology or significant equivalent and relevant experience. Master's degree in a relevant field is preferred.
Relevant industry certification(s) are highly desirable (CISSP, etc).
The specific knowledge, skills, and experience requirements for this position are:
•Excellent verbal and written communications skills to enhance the quality of presentations and document deliverables.
•Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Network Management / Network Defense, Systems and Network Security, and Network and Systems Engineering. Familiarity with current LAN, MAN, and WAN technologies is required;
•4+ years experience performing network or systems engineering tasks in an Information Technology field with 3+ years of experience in enterprise management systems design and/or testing of secure or non-secure networks.
•Network Protocols: DNS, NTP, SSH, HTTP, HTTPS, SNMP, SMTP, TCP, UDP, IP, Ethernet, TFTP, DHCP, telnet, RS232, OSPF, BGP, IGP, IPSEC, IKE, PPTP, PPoE, ESP, IP-n-IP, RADIUS, RIP, GRE, L2TP, Frame-Relay, MPLS, ATM.
•Must have strong routing and switching skills.
Preferred skills, knowledge, and experience for this position:
•Knowledge of U.S. Department of Defense and U.S. Air Force security requirements, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Specific roles and responsibilities of this position include:
•Lead and perform work on an enterprise network as an expert in design and implementation;
•Lead and perform work as a contributing member of a design team.
The following are additional unique experience, knowledge, and/or skill requirements:
•2+ years of experience performing information assurance / operations tasks and a strong understanding of information assurance and/or information operations concepts, i.e. system information security (INFOSEC), communications security (COMSEC);
•2+ years of experience in vulnerability scanning and penetration testing;
•2+ years experience with relevant technologies and operating system's to include firewalls, routers, switches, intrusion detection systems, etc;
•2+ years of experience working in a DoD business and/or technical environment;
•Understanding of U.S.A.F. Network Concept of Operations;
•Candidate must be proficient in using Microsoft Office software tools (Word, Project, PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio);
•In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP networks is required;
•Minimum secret clearance required
•Advanced knowledge of the principles, methods and techniques involved in network engineering;
•Advanced knowledge of and ability to use relevant hardware, software and other equipment.

Travel to worldwide locations is required. Travel will average 60-80% or more depending on your home location, customer requirements, schedule, and performance needs. Generally one week to three month deployments with longer deployments possible depending on project requirements. Travel reimbursable using standard JTR per diem rates for locale.
