The Business Development Coordinator works with the Business Development Manager, Office Administrator, Office Managing Partner, and local department and practice chairs to assist in developing and implementing marketing strategies and local business development programs for individual attorneys and practice groups in the office. Bachelor?s degree in related field required and a minimum of two to three years experience in marketing/communications/public relations, preferably in a law firm. Duties include and are not limited to: 1. Works with Manager to help attorneys create timely, relevant presentation topics and plan seminars to promote attorney expertise. Helps coordinate major pitches and presentations. 2. Coordinates special events such as panel/speaking engagement opportunities (seminars, receptions, group sorting events) for attorneys. 3. Produces local pitch books and presentations and follow-ups with key attorneys after the pitch. 4. Coordinates public relations and publicity opportunities for Latham and attorneys. May develop relationships with other professional service providers for prospective referrals and/or event co-sponsorship opportunities. 5. Acts as a marketing/business development resource regarding standard and customary business development practices for individual attorneys and local teams, as requested. 6. Stays abreast of local company best practices, market and industry trends, and provides competitor research to assist the Manager in making recommendations for the Office. 7. Participates in community projects or local civic, professional, or business organizations. Assists BD staff at special events such as panel/speaking engagements, community projects, and seminars. 8. Updates and maintains local marketing materials, including practice profiles, office resumes, attorney profiles, and PowerPoint presentations. 9. Gathers deal and case data from local attorneys. 10. Utilizes knowledge of firm intranet site and other online resources to track cases and client relationships, including use of the firm's experience and contact management databases. Also assists with retrieval of publications, including articles, client alerts, newsletters, etc. 11. Conducts research of prospective targets, industries, markets, competition and conflicts via firm-wide resources, online databases, and librarian searches. 12. Supports local BD group with general administrative tasks; submits check requests and expense reports via Concur, maintains pitch book files, and updates information on spreadsheets. 13. Coordinates work done by Global Business Development staff in supporting local efforts. Coordinates with other areas / departments of the firm where overlap exists to develop efficient procedures / communications to stream-line processes and satisfy various department needs. 14. Assists with special projects on various issues regarding creative marketing and other matters as needed. 15. Promotes effective work practices, works as a team member, and shows respect for co-workers.
