The Opportunity

The Network Administrator II position under general direction, participates as technical expert in design, development, coding, testing and debugging new software or significant enhancements to existing software. Works with other technical staff to understand problems with software and develops specifications to resolve them.
Key Responsibilities
Provides direct support to the users of Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) technologies at college locations ensuring that the LAN/WAN is available to all system users and resolves data communication and /or email problems.
Assists management with developing scope and objectives of a project and in preparing the project plan. Manages one aspect of a project and is responsible for completing it on time and within budget. May act as a team leader on less complex projects.
Implements classroom and administrative networks in start-up schools and /or new classrooms. Plans cable layout, contracts and coordinates cable and network installation for voice and data. Provides continued network support to all schools for flowing installation, including cable, equipment, connectivity, user and network administrative support.
Receives telephone calls from users having hardware, software, data communication and/or email issues. Reviews procedures the user will follow to determine if specified steps were taken. Explains user procedures necessary to transmit data. Researches and analyzes problems, customer complaints and needs; prepares a statement of the problem to be submitted to management; and develops a business/technical solution to the problem.
Validates system requirements and provides technical advice to the user in areas such as data mapping, date clean-up, test scripts, and quality control. Documents conversion requirements and procedures.
Monitors modems and display screen information to detect error messages that signal malfunctions in communications software and hardware.
Designs, develops, and documents reports are required. Participates in the development of software user manuals.
Implements LAN/WAN policies, procedures and standards and ensures their conformance with network and company objectives.
Assists in training other development staff as well as users.
Assists management in preparing deliverables for management meetings and presentations. Produces technical deliverables such as entity relationship diagrams and process flow diagrams by gathering detailed requirements, etc.
Assists in the management of LAN/WAN performance and security. Ensures security procedures are implemented and enforced.
Interfaces with call-center team in maintaining highly available, efficiently performing IP-telephony environments.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Required Skills
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field is required. Degree must be from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Education.
2-4 years of experience enterprise networking support.
Switching and Routing certification (CCNA or equivalent) is required.
