I. POSITION SUMMARY:
The Operating Room Scheduling Specialist is responsible for scheduling surgery cases in all 10 Operating Rooms at Benefis Healthcare and the Obstetrical Suites. The Specialist receives all calls from the Surgeons office, Faxes, Booking Sheets to facilitate smooth case boarding through Surgery Services. This position coordinates resources through the scheduling module and works in tandem with Operations Specialists and Materials Support Coordinator to assure special resources are present for specific surgery cases. This position posts the schedule daily, closes case records for timely charging and re-orders of supplies. Manages block schedules, releases blocks, to facilitate open O.R. time for cases.
II. EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Scheduling experience preferred.
4 years experience at Benefis Healthcare, preferred.
Medical terminology and computer course (college) or equivalent.
Ability to work with a computerized scheduling module.
Familiarity with hor Operating Rooms function.
Additional Information
Weekend and/or Holiday Rotation may be required.
