 GENERAL SUMMARY: 
 Performs telecommunications network security analysis, configuration design, implementation, and maintenance; works under limited supervision; performs additional duties as assigned.
 
 PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
 The Staff Network Engineer will be responsible for analyzing network security requirements based on industry/Government guidance (e.g. FIPS-2, NIST, DISA, etc.) and industry best practices. Design and document network security configurations for firewalls and Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) and Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS). Perform installation and configuration of firewalls and IDS/IPS at customer site. Participate in data center support for voice, data, and multi-media communications networks, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting, and upgrading operating systems and protocol suites and configuring communication media; Performing initial assessment of the architectural infrastructure; Providing ongoing assessment of the IDS infrastructure; Performing timely patching and security updates to all operating systems and subsystems; Supporting firewall and ISD/IPS sensors monitoring and analysis during Government C&A process and testing; Supporting the acquisition of hardware and software as requested; Providing guidance and work leadership to less-experienced network engineers and other technical staff and may participate in special projects as required.
 
 This position requires 5-8 years of related experience in telecommunications network design and network security and a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience.
 
 

 Requires BS/BA degree. 

 Requires 2-5 years experience. 

 WORKING CONDITIONS: 
 
 Work location is Clarksville, VA (nearby locations include Danville, VA and NC Research Triangle). The work is typically performed in an office and on-site environment, which requires normal safety precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes or equipment.
