EDI Analyst

The successful candidate will be responsible for using technical and domain expertise in the creation of detailed interface system specifications and procedures that meet defined Business Requirements. Candidates will also utilize understanding of HIPAA X12 and other Interface formats along with standard software interface specification practices to create well-defined, detailed interface specifications that are to be used by engineering development department and project stakeholders. Participate in creative design meetings to write specifications for software development. 

16.Understanding of Healthcare HIPAA EDI transactions.
17.Reviews and interprets HIPAA X12 transaction implementation guides and other industry specification to ensure client's specifications, processes and procedures are up-to-date and provide optimal solutions to clients.
18.Researches X12 HIPAA modifications using industry resources.
19.Determines and identifies impact of proposed modifications on applications and database architecture.
20.Understanding of FACETS structure to include table usage.
21.Maps and updates maps of X12 segments and elements and other Interfaces to and from database tables and fields.
22.Creates and updates specifications for HIPAA transactions including 837P, 837I, 834, 835, 820, 271, 270 and other custom user interfaces detailing functions and features for systems to meet business requirements 
23.Researches X12 and other interface issues raised by clients and recommend policies to Manager, Engineering and other staff.
24.Verifies and troubleshoots X12 and other Interface issues using application and SQL queries in a SQL and Sybase environment.
25.Creates and maintains feature and function test scenarios.
26.Creates and updates documentation.
27.Works as a team member with little or no help. 
28.Participates in and supports process improvement activities within the department and company-wide.
29.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
30.Willing to go outside the box when needed.

Requirements:

Bachelor Degree or equivalent job related work experience.
Preferred operational experience in Managed Care, specifically including HIPAA transactions and Interfaces, but may also include Eligibility, Enrollment, and Claims.
Good knowledge of relational databases and SQL programming language.
Uses professional concepts, applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues.
Ability to identify processes which can be automated by the client. 
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Proficiency in writing detailed interface specifications 
Has understanding of the software development cycle, design processes and standard specification practices
Ability to understand and explain products and functionality in non-technical language
Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects
Team player.
