 GENERAL SUMMARY: Designs and administers complex relational databases for data warehousing for oil and gas industry; works under limited supervision; does related work as required.
 
 PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
 1. Designs, maintains, enhances, codes, and administers complex relational databases for oil and gas industry.
 
 2. Analyzes and determines information needs and elements, data relationships and attributes, data flow and storage requirements, and data output and reporting capabilities.
 
 3. Develops data modeling and is responsible for data acquisition and access analysis and design, and archive, recovery, and load strategy design and implementation.
 
 4. Coordinates new data development ensuring consistency and integration with existing data warehouse structure.
 
 5. Participates in continuous improvement efforts in enhancing performance and providing increased functionality, applies Oracle patches as necessary.
 
 6. Designs data structures to accommodate database production, storage, maintenance, and accessibility.
 
 7. Develops screens and queries, and tests designed applications.
 
 8. Perform upgrades and maintenance of hardware and software.
 
 9. Provides technical support and guidance to end-users, including enrollment of system end users, provisioning of proper rights and priviledges, monitoring user account activity, removal of user accounts.
 
 10. May serve as a technical team or task leader.
 
 11. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
 
 12. Participates in special projects as required. 

 EDUCATION: 
 
 1. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience.
 
 2. Certified Oracle 9i DBA 

 EXPERIENCE:
 
 1. Typically requires 8-10 years of related experience in the design, maintenance, and administration of relational databases.
 
 2. Proficient in the use of Oracle 9i, database recovery methods, database security, and Oracle Forms.
 
 3. Demonstrated experience with ESRI, Arc SDE, TIMS, Schlumberger/GeoQuest product suites.
 
 4. Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of the principals, methods, and techniques used in database development, coding, and design, including business analysis, event modeling, logical and physical database design, data access analyses and design, DBMS optimization, archive and recovery strategy, load strategy design and implementation, security, installation, and the backup of a fully functioning database.
 
 WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is typically performed in an office environment requiring normal safety precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes or equipment.
