Howard R. Green Company, a consulting engineering and architecture firm with 90-years of history and strong focus on a growing future, is looking for exceptionally talented individuals ready to begin the next stage of their professional journey. We are currently seeking a Project Engineer to assist with the expansion of our Transportation group in Des Moines, IA.
The Project Engineer acts as an authorized agent of the company and is responsible for delivering technically sound products that meet and exceed the needs of clients. Makes significant design decisions in cooperation with Project Managers on assigned projects, where applicable. May be responsible for assisting with marketing, business development, project management and client communication on a limited and assigned basis.
Will be responsible for, but not limited to:
Using professional judgment to independently complete engineering tasks within federal, state and local established criteria.
Under the direction of the Project Manager, assigning and managing tasks and schedules to Staff Engineer (I/II) and non-exempt project team members.
Ensuring the accuracy of completed tasks through the use of established HRG QA/QC processes established for each project.
Completing major design tasks that meet the needs of internal and external customers.
Monitoring and pro-actively identifying or correcting technical, schedule or financial issues through effective communication with the Project Manager or other management staff.
Assisting the Client in bidding or contractor selection if authorized by the Project Manager.
Monitoring construction and supervises field personnel assigned to a task, data collection or a specific project.
Responding to contractor questions and issues and prepares and issues project addenda as needed.
Recommending and prepares change orders, if authorized by the Project Manager.
May participate in preparation of engineering services proposals, including the calculation/estimation of time schedules and costs of the proposed work.
Signing and sealing engineering documents as an authorized representative of the company.
Independently communicating on technical matters with the client.
Must have a bachelors or masters degree in engineering, and be professionally registered (P.E.) in one or more states in which Howard R. Green conducts business (or have the ability to obtain such registration within six months of employment). Must have eight (8) or more years of experience in urban and rural roadway reconstruction and rehabilitation projects with progressive experience. The successful candidate will be a motivated team player with good communication skills. Prior construction inspection, and surveying experience preferred. Must have advanced knowledge of Microstation and GEOPAK as well as office automation software (MS Office).
